Plans change every year so please remember that it is your responsibility to monitor your insurance benefits for massage therapy each year. The contract for these benefits is between you and your insurance provider, so it's important that you understand the policy's coverage. If you have specific questions about your health plan and benefits, please call the 1-800 number on the back of your insurance card before seeing us.
We have contracts with a few insurance companies and our clients will be charged the amount that is applied toward their deductible if it has not been met. (Or if your deductible applies) The amount a client is responsible for at their session depends on their plan. There are typically a copay or coinsurance due at the time of service. We bill all health care insurance companies $160 for a 60-minute therapeutic massage as of January 15, 2026.
Federal Savings and Health Savings Accounts can be a valuable tool for managing healthcare costs. If you are enrolled in a high-deductible health plan, you may have the option to utilize your health savings account (HSA) to cover qualified medical expenses. Please verify your benefits by calling the 800 number on your FSA card about benefits and inquire if you need MD referral for use at my office.
Our Massage Menu Price Therapeutic Massage section is discounted for clients who pay at the time of service. These discounted rates apply only to non-medical and non-physician-referred massages. Medical massage covered by MVA insurance is billed at the usual, customary, and reasonable (UCR) rate. This service is available in 15-minute increments, with a rate of $50.00 per unit or $200.00. Billing is based on the actual time spent providing treatment and it involves extensive documentation.

Please review the following information regarding scheduling a massage covered by insurance:
- Visit Limits: Typically, 12 visits are submitted per year. Additional visits may be approved with a medical prescription, depending on necessity.
- Coverage Scope: Most plans cover massage only for treatment-specific care; chronic pain management and relaxation massages are generally excluded.
- Plan Variations: Coverage terms change annually. Massage is often covered by group plans, whereas individual plans do not include this benefit.
- Provider Requirements: Some plans require that the massage be performed by or in conjunction with a chiropractor or physical therapist.
- Authorizations: A prescription or preauthorization is frequently required.
- Deductibles: Some plans require your deductible to be met before coverage applies. Example if Deductible is 500 and you've met 375.00 for that year, then you will not have massage coverage and will be responsible at time of service.
- Billing: We can bill your insurance directly and will provide a reimbursement or credit if payment is received.
